Wanta Media -
Disability Discrimination Act Solutions
Not everyone is able to visit any place of business, not everyone is catered for. The next stage of the Disability
Discrimination Act (
DDA) which came into effect in
October, 2004, will hopefully bring the
able-bodied and the disabled worlds together or, at the very least, a long way towards it. Many companies are daunted by
the DDA and its legal ramifications but they don't need to be. In most instances, physical modifications will be able to
be made to conform with the Act. However, Wanta Media can offer a solution to companies who are unable to make the physical
modifications necessary to comply. This could be for any number of reasons, from financial to physical (i.e. a property
could be a listed building).

One of the most important differences between iPIX images and conventional 360° panoramas, is that you can see the floor
in an iPIX image which could be invaluable to a person with mobility problems. Most iPIX photographers place a tripod cap
over the tripod in their images, whereas at Wanta Media, we specialise in the complete removal of the tripod to enhance the
interactivity of the image and to show the floor. When iPIX images are combined with audio and still images, a
fully-integrated and innovative production for a website or CD can be created. This will help your company answer the demands
of the DDA (providing there are reasons for the physical modifications not to be made).
What a large percentage of companies do not realise is that by making their premises unsuitable for a disabled person, they
not only lose the custom of the disabled person but also their friends, family members and colleagues. This does not make
commercial sense but it is a little known fact. If you treat a disabled person with respect, like you would any able-bodied
person, then the word-of-mouth reputation of your business will increase. That is the most valuable marketing tool for a
company.
At Wanta Media, we have a background in working with a large disabled organisation. Few companies are in this position of
having the insight that we have for understanding the needs of a disabled person, combined with the needs and concerns of a
business. It's through this understanding that we can help your business take the next step to providing equality for
disabled people.
